High-Accuracy Fiber Arrays: First Measurement Results of Core Position Accuracy

High-Accuracy Fiber Arrays (HAFA): First Measurement Results of Core Position Accuracy.

MicroAlign aims to improve the coupling efficiency between Fiber Arrays and Photonic Integrated Circuits (PICs). To achieve this goal, we’ve developed a revolutionary fiber array technology in which all fibers are actively aligned during manufacturing.

End 2024, MicroAlign demonstrated for the first time HAFAs featuring 12 SMF28 fibers organized with a 250 µm pitch, achieving an unprecedented core position accuracy better than 100 nm.
This marks a 5x improvement over the current state-of-the-art fiber arrays — a major step forward for the photonics industry.
